How Micro Needling Works
Collagen Induction Therapy works by stimulating your own body’s collagen to start your body naturally regenerating skin. It works below the surface (in the dermis) generating new skin cells and enhancing blood supply. Over several weeks visible signs of regeneration are seen & the process continues over the following months, providing a gradual & long lasting enhancement.
The SkinPen treatment works in three simple steps, designed to activate the skin’s natural healing process. Following each session, the skin begins to heal itself, looking more renewed and rejuvenated over time. Inflammation

Who Is It For?

Collagen Induction Therapy will plump fine lines and wrinkles from almost anywhere on the body (don’t forget about your neck and décolletage). CIT also helps reduce appearance of acne scarring and other isolated scars.
Who is it not for?
SkinPen should not be used on patients who have active skin cancer in the treatment area; open wounds, sores, or irritated skin in the treatment area; an allergy to stainless steel or anesthetics; a hemorrhagic disorder or hemostatic dysfunction; are pregnant or breast feeding; or are currently taking drugs with the ingredient isotretinoin (such as Accutane).
Is it safe?
Yes, by design. SkinPen’s patented – and single-use – sterile needle cartridge is built with safety in mind. SkinPen is also surrounded by a custom-designed BioSheath that acts as a barrier to prevent cross contamination between procedures. That’s part of the reason SkinPen by Crown Aesthetics is the world’s first FDA-cleared microneedling device.
How Does it work?
SkinPen creates hundreds to thousands of “micro” skin punctures per second to stimulate the skin’s natural wound healing process – inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling – to prompt tissue remodeling without causing scar tissue formation. Most patients can return to normal activities within 24 hours.
Is It Painful?
Not really. The skin is thoroughly cleansed, and you can choose to have a topical anesthetic is applied so you should not feel much at all. We use a needling device that we are able to adjust the needle depth to make sure we can customize the treatment to suit the patient's skin and achieve the best results possible.
What Happens After?
The skin will have a redness that can last up to 24 hours. You will need to refrain from wearing makeup, doing vigorous exercise or swimming for at least 24 hours after.
After the initial 24 hours you can resume most normal activities. In the following week you can expect some dryness and even mild peeling can be possible.
When Will I See Results?
Results are gradual as collagen re- production takes time. Most patients report seeing changes after the first 4 weeks.
Treatments are performed 4-6 weeks apart. We recommend a course of 3-6 treatments for optimum results.
